We were taken from the labor camp June '44, I believe it was, to Buchenwald. That was a particularly harrowing experience because I remember they kept piling us into these cattle cars. And it was a three day ride, and I recall when they were piling us into the car, the one, only on one side, the other side had a crack open about this wide and they wanted everybody to move back so they could put more people. And eventually people kept going back, but there was no more room. I do recall them, they fired across, to make more room. So, shoved another batch of people in. I remember a good percentage of people died. For three days, people defecated on the floor. Three days, we didn't have any food or water. And again I, then I remember that the thirst was the overwhelming thing. We just couldn't, that is again, something that keeps recurring in my mind, this constant thirst. And I remember when they let us off the cattle cars in Buchenwald, there was a hose with water and some people couldn't even make it to the water. And after we got our drink, they were taking us to have showers to clean us up. Nobody wanted a shower. And there were people saying these showers are OK. It's OK. I remember going in, even though we were told, because a lot of Jews were talking to us and they would say, this is \"unsere,\" I'm telling you, I'm one of you. It's OK. We ultimately went in. You had no choice. And when finally water came out. But again, you thought this was the end of you.
