Her father was a rabbi and her parents ran a hardware store.\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eIn March 1939, Germany occupied Czechoslovakia and the town Yasinia was ceded to Hungary. Judith was forced to leave the public school because of anti-Semitic laws. In March 1944, the German Wehrmacht occupied Yasinia, and in April 1944 the Jews of Yasinia were rounded up in the Jewish cemetery and brought to the Mátészalka Ghetto in Hungary a week later.\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eIn May 1944, she was deported to Auschwitz -Birkenau, where Judith saw her parents and her sister Berta for the last time. On May 21st, 1944 she was transported to Gelsenkirchen-Horst Sub-concentration Camp (a sub-camp of Buchenwald Concentration Camp) on the grounds of Gelsenberg Benzin AG, north of Linnenbrinksweg, where she and the other prisoners lived in tents.\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eOn August 24th, 1944 Judith was transferred together with 520 Hungarians to Essen-Humboldtstrasse Sub-concentration Camp. She lived in the barracks on Humboldt Street at the corner of Regenbogenweg and performed forced labor for Friedrich Krupp AG. On March 7, 1945 the camp was closed. She marched on foot to Bochum and went by railway via Buchenwald Concentration Camp to Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp. On April 15th, 1945, she was liberated in Bergen-Belsen.\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eJudith did not return to Yasinia, but moved to Gothenburg (Sweden), attended school and became a designer. She emigrated to the USA in 1948, where she met her husband, got married and had two sons.
